Another excellent dining destination is Absolute Bakery & Cafe, a prime spot for mouthwatering breakfast and brunch prepared from scratch with local and organic ingredients. This casual eatery is popular with Mancos residents, mainly due to the wide array of culinary options available on its menu.

For excellent and specialty coffee, visit Fahrenheit Coffee Roasters, known for its locally roasted beans and incredible light breakfast and lunch fare. Afterward, stop at Mancos Pizza Co for gourmet slices of pie hand-tossed and cooked to perfection. Cool off on a warm summer day with a glass of locally brewed cider beer at The Cidery or a handcrafted beer at Mancos Brewing Company.

Shoppers can access numerous top retailers offering quality and brand-name items. Mud Creek Hogan Trading Post is one of the best shopping areas specializing in Native American Indian Arts and crafts, including various curio and road trip souvenir items. Another top shopping destination is Kilgore American Indian Art, located along Grand Avenue. This beloved shop features a world-class array of rare and antique American Indian craftwork.

 

Mancos is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts looking to discover memorable and exciting recreational activities. The community features several gorgeous lakes, rivers, streams, and mountains, including some of the most scenic bike and horse trails in Southwest Colorado. In addition, you can explore the beautiful Mesa Verde National Park, a world heritage site spanning 52,000 acres on the Colorado Plateau. This view-filled park features Ancestral Puebloan cliff dwellings from long ago, camping sites, exciting tours, and over a thousand species of flora and fauna.

History buffs spend time touring the Wrightsman House at 209 Bauer Avenue. Here, you can explore the historic two-and-one-half-story rough stone dwelling and get a first-hand look at its beautiful architectural styles, which feature an eclectic mix of Queen Anne, Tudor Revival, and Romanesque Revival designs. Another spot that carries a lot of history is the Mancos Opera House. Built-in 1910, it’s one of the town’s oldest buildings. In 2017, a Mancos couple undertook the daunting task of remodeling it in order to bring its beauty and history to a whole new generation of residents.

Mancos residents also celebrate a range of thrilling recurring special events and festivals throughout the year. Avid and beginner runners alike sign up for the Mancos Cowboy Half Marathon, 5K, and Fun Run. This popular event takes runners throughout Mancos’ most beautiful landscapes as they traverse a scenic course made of pavement, trail, and dirt roads.
